Back again!

It's been a while but I am back at the blog ...........the weather was uncomfortable hot last week that a lot of outside work was left till cooler weather showed up and it did.......Whoopy!
Since then we have been busy baling straw and with Chris home again, picked up on trimming hoofs and the box stall kept us busy with cows calving.Today we are back to filling silo with haylage we have 60 acres total out there. The smell of fresh cut alfalfa hangs outside........some might say its as aromatic as weed!

We had a nice 30th Anniversary on Sunday the 30th. of July, thank you for the beautiful flowers and everyone who send us their best wishes. That Saturday we celebrated the 25th. Anniversary of friends at their farm with a party.
Juul and Ton came too and stayed overnight and started the morning with a big breakfast cooked with help of Chris and Gerbrich...delicious blueberry pancakes..We had a good time playing games in the pool and even Casey went for a swim!
The only place to be comfy in the heat.

The weather system that turned the heat into crispy clear skies was packed with hundreds of thunderstorms and lit the sky from Windsor to eastern townships in Quebec. Tornado's 6 of them went through the Muskoka's and Kawarthas ,lots of damage at resorts and cottages in the area. Some have just got their hydro back and a lot of fallen trees need to be removed......your typical tornado cleanup.

Duke was bothered by all this heat and showed some difficulty with his back....getting up was tough for him... the vet put him on predison and his mobility improved so quickly that he went to the creek 3 nights in a row .....I wonder now if the muskrats are the only attraction at the creek?

Our second nests of swallows have left the barn and are resting on my wash line .......still waiting for mom to bring them food. The yard is full of swallows and are flying through your legs if need be! People are ok, cats and dogs are under full attack. In a couple of weeks they will fly south as one unit ....the yard is still and empty when they are gone. A sure sign winter is coming!

Last Monday, Long weekend, celebrating Lord Simcoe, we went to Simcoe's Friendship Festival and enjoyed the craft sale. Next stop was Burlington Waterfront Park, we took Hyw. 6 and stopped at Hewitts dairy for an ice cream and in Caledonia the Native Flags were flying high along the highway. That early morning a confrontation between the natives and townspeople escalated in capture the flag games! First the maple leave was cut out of Canadian flag by Indians........then the towns people took the Flags down from the Indians.... then they started to throw sticks, stones, golfballs and marbles.........Last night it was a water fight..........Will it ever stop?

It's 9pm ...all the work is done, the silo is full and the boys are ready to put up their feet and have a cold beer........Ahhhhhh soooo gooood!

Till then.......enjoy your summer holidays to the fullest!
